However, I disagree! I have wanted to compile interesting stories about my ancestors for a long time, and feel like it is an important part of family history work. I just didn't know how. Mostly I just thought that I would write the stories I'd heard in my journal. However, that is very time consuming and then the stories would be limited to just me and my descendants.
Finally, I realized: What better way to share this information than on a blog? It's the perfect format for sharing stories and accessible to as many people as have the URL link to the blog. It is easy to edit. It's a great way to keep family up-to-date on where work needs to be done. It's easy to add on to, and relatively easy to organize. This is the perfect solution to my dilemma, and I plan to add information and stories generation-by-generation.
I have been born of goodly parents, as the scripture says. From what I know of their parents, and their parents' parents, all of the family that I know have been born of goodly parents. As I've learned about my grandparents, great-grandparents, and others of my forefathers, I've realized that my parents were goodly parents because of the examples they had set for them by their parents. I've realized that I've been influenced by family members that I haven't even met, and who passed away years--dozens, scores, hundreds of years--before I was born. I'm so glad that they lived the way they lived and taught my progenitors--down to my very own parents--to be goodly people.
I am excited to record the history of my progenitors and to help others in my family to learn more about them, too. I need your help! Please, please please help me to gather these stories about our ancestors and any other information that you think would further the purpose of this blog. I would love to have your favorite memories of grandparents, great-aunts and great-uncles, as well as any stories or information you have on anyone else in our common family tree.*
Thank you so much, and happy family history-ing!
*P.S. you can send me a message by clicking on my name in the "Followers" or "Members" section at the top right-hand side of the page. In the pop-up window that appears, there should be an option to send me a message (it appears underneath my name). Or you can just e-mail me or send me a message on Facebook :)
This blog is family history gold! Thank you for compiling these stories. <3
